Jan 13, 2006 - Cruising up the coast to Coffs Harbor

When we landed in Sydney we were picked up by the Merrell's, great friends of mine (Marc's) from college, and we spent our first weekend at their house in Sydney. We were instantly impressed by the beauty and liveliness of Sydney, and we will be returning there in a few weeks to explore all it has to offer. We rented another little campervan, and we have spent the last week making our way slowly up the coast towards Brisbane. We are about halfway there now, in a pretty town called Coffs Harbor. We love the Australian beaches. They have...

Oct 23, 2005 - Coffs Harbour

Another Sleepy Town Coffs Harbour is small yet very spacious. We spent the first night in a social club where we had a laugh with some of the locals. Passers by generally say 'ge day' or 'how you going' which gives the place a pleasant feel. There isn't too much to do around here except walking and cycling so we decided to rent a mountain bike for the afternoon. Mar 9, 2005 - Coffs Harbour (09/03/05 - 11/03/05)

Typical Australian beach town: the water is great but over-development of the shoreline spoils the character of the place. And too many malls, the curse of McDonalds and all the other crap that goes with it. Nice Hostel but it should be because it's almost brand new. Only staying a couple of days and although pretty here, it doesn'y make a lot of impact. The great dividing range runs almost into the ocean in places and that is something to see but the town itself just doesn't do it. There is a giant concrete Banana here but getting there...
