Today we have spent the day by the lake, relaxing, fishing, checking pots for cray fish, riding bikes and watching the big goanna climb a gum tree.Ah this is the life! i wish Dad was here he would love it, there are so many fish the top of the water looks like rain. (all the lakes are so full because of all the rain so there are plenty of dead fish along the banks, the smell is really bad and the hum of the flys is high pitched but it is so peaceful here i could stay a week. Its a free camp sight so its even better, but no phone reception...Jump to full entry
Apr 11, 2011 - Broken Hill stay
Arrived in Broken Hill on Friday morning and moved into the caravan park for a week. Our first stop was the patchwork shop so I could get some more fabric for the quilt I'm handpiecing while we're on the road. While there I found a brochure for the Silver City Quilters so made some enquiries and then spent the day on Saturday stitching and chatting to some lovely ladies, while John did a Cook's tour around town. Apr 5, 2011 - A bit further along the road!
We spent our day in Lightning Ridge following a number of designated tourist drives, all marked with different coloured car doors; visiting an underground opal mine and a number of the many shops selling opal jewellery. Apart from an opal charm for my bracelet nothing else jumped out and said "buy me". We have been very surprised at how green the countryside is and I think we're seeing it at its best.
