Oct 19, 2006 - Surf Camp!

Monday, the 16th I was booked to go to Ripcurl Surf Camp for 4 days. We caught the bus at 8am and drove 2 hours south of Sydney to a place called Gerroa, near Gerringong, and we surfed at Seven Mile Beach. A few of us from my orientation decided to sign up together so at least I knew a few other people going. The camp we stayed at was really cool. Just a short walk to the beach, and we stayed in little cabins. Each day for 4 days, we had a 2 hour lesson in the morning AND a 2 hour lesson in the afternoon. You definitely discover muscles...

Aug 2, 2006 - Heading South

We need to get back to Melbourne (daughters first babe - baby shower - shopping - necessary!). Decided to take route 1 - down the coast. Stop offs at reasonable intervals (for us) at Coffs, Karuah (Newcastle/Port Stephens), Shellharbour (Wollongong), Bega, Bairnsdale - Melb. Took a few days at each stop - longer at places we hadn't stayed before. At Coffs we stay on the north side - actually at Park Beach CP. High class resort park we have been to before. For the lazy, the bowls club is just down the road and serves a good feed at...

Apr 23, 2006 - Camels in the morning, Sydney in the afternoon

We had a 6:00 am wake up today. After yesterday it seems slightly abusive but being that it was for a ride on camels we got no objections. Our bus picked us up at 7:30 and we headed out to the camel ranch. We had a very short safety briefing and climbed on top of our steeds with two riders per camel. Demi rode with Torger, Molly rode with another woman and Niko rode with me. Don't worry for a minute that the camels were being over burdened. They are amazingly strong and durable animals. Back in their day as a primary tool for hauling, bull...

Dec 23, 2005 - Bateman's Bay

At Mallacoota we saw people who had decorated their campers with Christmas decorations. We saw a few small Christmas trees too! Today in Bateman's Bay I saw a sandman - instead of a snowman! Pretty cute! We have a great site, among some cabins in a caravan campground and it is right on the water. We went for a little swim - oh, the water was pretty cold on the initial dunk, but it was refreshing. Ken keeps tripping over the tent lines! While I have my wine chilling in a bucket of ocean water. Ken and I have decided that we need to return to...

Dec 19, 2004 - traveling with van

We left Melbourne in style riding high in our new A-Team van Louanda looking to conquer the coast up to Sydney before Christmas. We were well equipped with Louanda getting her final touches done in Melbourne before we were to head south to Wilsons Prominitory. This new chariot of ours is from the great year of 1984 back when the boys of summer on Michigan Ave and Trumbal ruled the baseball world. The fact the Tigers were the best team in baseball when this magnificent automobile was created gives you an idea just what she might look like up...

Oct 15, 2004 - Arrival - Wollongong and Sydney

Hi folks, Apologies for the delay in this first entry, but I didn't intend to come all this way just to spend all my time in front of various computers ! Arrived more or less on time after a not-too-bad journey at around 8PM in Sydney on Tuesday 5 October. After a short mobile phone call across about ten meters and three continents I met-up with my cousin Clayton, a long-term resident here who I haven't met in at least thirty years. He and his wife Cin (short for Jocinta) had kindly offered to accomodate me on arrival in their house in...
