It was drizzling for most of the day we left Monkey Marsh and although we set off with the roof up, we reached the 3rd lock and because of a low walkway over the lock we had to stop to take down the roof. There were some very narrow parts on the canal to get through - the locals decided it would make the canal look pretty if they planted lots of reeds (on both banks!!) so there's a narrow channel between them which is quite shallow at times to battle through.
We got to Newbury and were lucky enough to find a mooring on the bank right outside the Tesco which made it easy to get our groceries. So after walking up into town and finding out that the moorings there are only 24 or 48 hours we decided to stay here until next week as we have someone from Vetus coming to do a warranty job next week.
We've been for a couple of walks around but the weather hasn't been very nice.
