Day 38. Friday. 20/9/2019. Singapore
Today we used the MRT for the first time - decided we just couldn’t walk to the Gardens by the Bay - way too far! Once we found the station and Ian had some advice from a Customer Service lady, it was easy. And sure saved the legs. We decided to do the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest, both which we’ve done years ago, but we weren’t disappointed. The orchids are stupendous, so many, so varied and so beautiful. We were there for about 4 hours and cheated and got the Shuttle cart back to the entry. We had something to eat for late lunch, then on the MRT to Clarke Quay to find a shop which friend Jennie had told us about which sold beautiful cream puffs. Found it and we bought a couple of apple turnovers with fresh cream, and they were delicious. Didn’t see Jen’s friend, but did see a better side of Clarke Quay. A painful walk back to our hotel, a rest with our feet up, watched the F1 practice on Fox - I fell asleep and got a shove in the ribs.......was I snoring?? - sorted our ports for tomorrow’s departure, and now time for the walk to Boat Quay and choose an eatery. F1 practice starts at 8.30 so we’ll hear the roar of the cars as we eat our meal.
Not so much the roar of the cars, but the roar of all the Aussies watching the Aussie Rules game. Richmond beat Geelong. We had a lovely dinner for our last one in Singapore and were back in time to see some of the F1 on tv.
