We left Whidbey Island on a ferry to Port Townsend, then south to I-5 to Portland and I-84 to the Dalles. We are in the middle of The Columbia River Gorge.

The first thing we did the next day was head for Mt Hood. The drive was beautiful, as we attempted a loop around the mountain. All was well until we were over 3/4 of the way around when we discovered the road was closed form a land slide. All the way back, but we found a few fruit stands on the way. All was good. Lots of cherries.

Then we drove over the river on the Hood River bridge to the Washington side and up the river for views. Then back across at the Dalles.

A little shopping and dinner at Cousins. A cracker barrel look alike.
