John and Heidi take on Europe 2019... travel blog

Bike excursion through UNESCO Heritage site. Spectacular views of picturesque and best...

A fun bike ride among all the windmills in Kinderdijk. The windmills pump water into the rivers allowing the fields to be planted. Hundreds of windmills still exist in the Netherlands. The entire Netherlands is under sea level. From there we bused to a dairy farm that produces cheese. Gouda of course! This family’s farm is in its 4th generation using 250 cows making Gouda cheese. We met the farmers daughter who gave us a tour of the cheese factory.

After lunch we had an informative tour of Dordrecht. A major shipping port where 3 rivers intersect. Roughly 150,000 ships per year.

Back to the ship for more food and drinks. Staying up later each night.
