The word "keukenhof" means tulip in Dutch and they claim that there are 7 million tulip bulbs planted in this oasis of spring near Amsterdam. Bob was skeptical initially about the tulip count, but not for long. Wherever you looked, spring was showing off either through the tulips, hyacinths or daffodils all juxtaposed to create a tapestry of color or in the scents from the hyacinths and narcissis. Despite the crowds, there's a sense of joy and celebration in the brilliance all around. While the gardens were spectacular, the fields surrounding them were almost more so with blooming tulips in wide bands of color as far as the eye could see. Seeing this was worth the price of this trip alone. I'll let the photos doing the talking...
