Shops along the shoreline in Georgetown

Empress of the Seas in a rain squall

Last stop on our cruise was the Cayman Islands in the British West Indies. Georgetown is the capital of the Cayman Islands and it’s a great place for water activities. You can even walk to a beach from the dock. We saw lots of wave runners out in the harbor, zooming all over the place. We walked along the shoreline and checked out the tourist traps (oops, I mean shops). Georgetown is a “tender” port. In other words, ships put down an anchor in the harbor and shuttle passengers to shore on small boats called “tenders”. The day we were there, there were 5 ships in the harbor – 1 Royal Caribbean (us), 1 Princess, 1 Disney and 2 Carnival. With all the tenders and the tourist boats/waverunners, that was one busy harbor!
