An unpleasant day yesterday - reversing all the way back from Long Eaton to Trent Lock.
We departed at 11am and moored up at 4.15pm then had to put the wheelhouse back together.
This is the view as we went backwards.
Not only did we have to reverse, the canal is so shallow that because we were reversing the silt and chopped up weeds etc. were drawn into the filters and kept blocking up, so approximately 2 hours of that time was spent with Tony down in the engine room cleaning filters. There was also some rubbish wrapped around the props (twice) that was so hard to cut off it took ages to cut through. Not happy Jan!!! So we were quite knackered by the time we were tied up.
Dinner at the nearby pub which has been in business since 1791 was very nice. It was also quite windy and was threatening to rain, but the rainclouds thankfully were blown over.
