Our route today was US 2 as we left the UP and enteredWisconsin. It was short drive to Top O’ the Morn Resort and Campground in Iron River, WI. We stayed here in early May of 2014 on the “Great Circle Tour”. At the time a young couple had just bought the property. They still own it and seem to be doing well. When we registered, they gave us the same site, #40, that we had 4 years ago.

We decided to eat dinner in the town of Iron River on Thursday. When we drove through town on our way in, they was a place where a guy looked like he was smoking some meat. We stopped in only to find out it primarily a bar and they only served hamburgers and roast beef sandwiches. No tables, just seats at the bar. We decided to try to find some place else. We wound up at the Iron River Pizza Parlor across from Uncle Bob’s Bowling Center where according to a sign on the building Sasquatch was sighted on April 1, 2017. I wanted a pizza anyway. I haven’t had one since we left except for the one I tried to cook on the grill and burned. We ordered a veggie pizza and when it arrived it was one of the typical mid-west pizzas with thin, cracker crust and cut into squares. Wouldn’t you know it, the crust was burnt. Unless I can find another pizzeria with an owner from NY, NJ, PA, or DE, we’re done with pizza until we get home.

We wanted to stay for a few nights to bridge the gap reservations we have, but they only had sites open on Wednesday and Thursday nights and we would have to stay in a different site each night. We took the 2 nights and will have to see what’s available closer to Duluth. Friday morning I began calling RV parks and it seemed that every place I called was full for the weekend. I was beginning to think we might have to do the Camp Walmart thing, but I finally found a place about 15 miles west of Duluth on US 2 that had space for the weekend. It had mixed reviews on RVParkReviews.com so we were apprehensive about what we would find. We’ll see later. Stay tuned.
