Wednesday; Arrive at the Tattersall Hotel only to be told that they are booked out (bookings 3 months in advance). Then find out all the other places (3) are also booked out due to travellers coming to see the Dinosour Park and others on their way to the Big Red Bash.
So we find two sites drive through? at the Matida Country Caravan Park. Although this park has daily entertainment such as; first a poet @ 4pm followed by a country singer (not bad) and also they provide a two course meal (for around $24 x 2 course meal) we have decided to head back to the Tattersall Hotel for dinner and to watch football (State of Origin).
We were told to came around 5.30pm if we wanted to get a table for dinner which we did and were surprised that we got the last table. They do around 150 meals per night here and people are coming and going up until about 9pm - so busy. With dinner over we make our way to the bar to watch football. Voted the best staff so far. I counted 6 staff behind the bar at any given time including the manager. The service was amazing the minute you emptied your glass a new one was there - the manager's wife (always joking and talking but watching the bar) even was watching for me to finish my ice water and she would signal to me do you want another. Great Night.
Thursday; Today we are both busy washing and getting provisions. Not a lot happening around the park - general comment someone could make this park a gold mine as it is badly run down - Value for Money the worst so far but we had no options this time. Dannie and I go for a drive to check out the main street of Winton; The new Matilda Centre is very well done, not a lot happening in the main street so we are back to the for a relaxing afternoon (not sure how many books Dannie has read maybe 5? and I have kept up with her 5 books completed (need to download more to my e-reader).
Friday: Today we are off to Dinosour Park Centre which is about a 14kms drive south from Winton. Arrived at the park around 10am and started the tour. Well after about 3 1/2 hours of looking around the centre we are all happy with the day. Highly recommended - just awesome. To think this park gets zero funding for the State Government is a joke it is a Qld Treasure. In the first part of our tour they take you to where they preserve the bones just amazing - only those who venture to Winton can say they have touched dinosaur bones - we will come here again if we travel through Winton as they are upgrading all the time and their future plans for the centre is ongoing.
Back to the caravan park for an afternoon rest, then as I'm not feeling well still I drop Bob, Dannie and Trevor off to the Winton Hotel for dinner. In no time at all they ring me for their pick up - meal was OK but the hotel is providing entertainment tonight which is rated by all as the worst noise ever and they had to leave along with all the other patrons. Oh well early to bed.
