We bashed through the ice on Monday to get to the top lock - the moorings there (only room for a max of 4 boats) were full. Once the locks were back in working order and the majority of the ice had melted 3 of the 4 boats left, so we were able to fill with water and take a space.
This is a novel idea (haha) the phone box has been turned into a miniature book swap library.
So off we set this morning down 7 locks (65 foot 5 inches drop). We had to lower the wheelhouse roof before we set off as there were a couple of narrow, low bridges to contend with.
Here's another novel idea, a battle ship narrow boat!
So we have tied up at Chorley to get our larder and fridge stocked up again.
Need a little lie down now!!
