Today we had a lay in and were picked up at 9 after a scrummy breakfast. First trip was to Maras where we looked around the concentric circles that they used to test crops - apparently. This was great as we beat the Chinese and Japanese visitors and managed to get back up to the top with little trouble. The area was miles from anywhere and the roads were dirt tracks at best. The nearest village was preparing for a festival and you could see people walking across the mountains for miles around. There was nothing else to do or see, including toilet facilities, there so we got back in the minibus and headed to Moray. Irene was desperate for the toilet and she was not helped by Bob and I wanting to stop for photo opportunities and the bumpy road. Moray was about 1/2 hr away so she was quite desperate. Managed to park outside the toilets and so the sprint to the toilet was a success.

We then looked around the salt mines or ponds as they seem to be. The stream coming in is very salty and they filter off into ponds and dry it off. They do not know where the salt comes from which is strange as I am sure in europe we would just dig the mountain up and extract the salt - thereby ruining a lifetimes work and some spectacular sights.

Then back to the hotel and the count of near accidents rose almost at each corner as cars, coaches and motorbikes overtook at inappropriate moments. Only one near death moment and one car trying to go the wrong way over a one way bridge across the river!

Said goodbye to our guide for the last few days and spent the afternoon relaxing around the swimming pool and failing to take photos of the local hummingbirds. Just going for dinner and then up at 5 for the trip to Machu Picchu. Not sure about internet connection at the next stop but will be in touch.
