Another shot in the dark

Monday 22nd Jan pm We drove out at 6pm out onto the salt flats, just driving there was an experience, initially the flats were dry salt up to 140m deep of the stuff. As we headed deeper into the lake the water level increased up to 10cm in places. This acted as a perfect mirror and the light was blinding. The jeep drove slowly through to water to minimise salt damage. We travelled for an hour, the salt flats being 120km by 90km we did not go far. It seemed like the whole world and his wife were out on the flats but due to the size, it had little or no impact.

We were presented with wellies and invited to sit down and have prepared snacks and wine to see the sunset.

It was quite amazing, beautiful and stunning experience a fantastic way to end day 2 in Bolivia.

We returned to the Los Saltos hotel where we had dinner.

We also had to jettison another 6kg of clothing as Bolivian airways has a maximum weight limit of 20kgs.

So please do be disappointed there are no gifts from the vacation as the need to cloth ourselves iwhich I consider is more important for the South Americans that we have yet to visit!!!!!
