Dinner at the Pool Grill

After arriving safely on Saturday we've spent the last couple of days really getting to know Singapore. The weather has been great, temps around the mid to high 20s and, for Singapore, relatively low humidity and virtually no rain. We've been staying at the Marriott, Tang Plaza on Orchard Road which has been superb and the Club Lounge has been great with a fine selection of food and plenty of beer, wine and spirits options to keep us happy in the evenings.

While in Singapore we've been on the hop on hop off bus to get a good overview of the city. We've also visited China Town, Little India, the Malay quarter and of course much of Orchard Road. We've also been across to Santosa, as well as seeing the Botanic Gardens and the Gardens by the Bay. As a last treat yesterday afternoon we visited the ArtSience Museum which is beside Marina Bay Sands. On our return to Singapore after our cruise we'll be staying at Marina Bay so we'll have more time to explore that area.

Last night as part of our package at the Marriott we had a three course dinner at the Pool Grill restaurant. The food was superb but, as we all know, drinks are expensive here. While the dinner was part of our package we had to pay for the drinks, our bottle of reasonable SA Riesling was $160, and that wasn't one of the expensive wines. Anyway, you only live once.

This morning while having breakfast in the Club Lounge we met a family (all adults) from California who will also be on board our cruise. We're guessing we'll be seeing one of the sons at our "Friends of Dorothy" drinks on board.

This morning is a relaxing morning at the hotel before we check out at noon and get a taxi to the ship.
