|Good day fellow travellers. This is just an entry to see if my blog will adhere to the terms and conditions.
We are three mates who entered the Wakati challenge. It is a race from Cape Town to Zanzibar * to be completed in 14 days or less. We are, to only use public transport and have a budget of 35 US$ per day per team member, for transport purposes. On route (through South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Malawi and Zanzibar) we will be faced with challenges, riddles, clues and checkpoints.
The aim is to accumulate as many points enroute as possible. This is done by a score card for the most kilometres travelled, most forms of public transport used, most tasks and riddles completed and best budget management. The aim is to "put money back in the local communities" and to have fun, travel and experience on a limited budget.
We have our own individual facebook pages that you can like and follow. Please feel free to comment and share our daily post. From today onwards it will be coming on a daily basis. If you comment please, please #TeamTGG in your comment
We also want to use this platform to show people that travelling through Africa is still safe and an adventure. So please follow us and hashtag #TeamTGG your comments.
Any comments and suggestions as to where to eat and where to sleep, and most importantly the cheapest form of transport will be appreciated.
The race starts on the 2nd of December 2017 at 7:00 am Cape Town time. Once we hit the start line, we will disclose our strategy and the initial route plan. (no sense in giving it all away for other teams to copy) O, by the way there are 33 teams of three members each.
#TeamTGG stands for Two Gnomes and a Giant.
Hope to hear from you and get your advise and input.
