Cyclorama of battlefield

We traveled thru Pennsylvania today.

The farmland was rich and green. We saw a huge bridge at Harrisburg. Thought maybe traffic was a little light being Sunday. We had heavy fog for a couple hours. Light rain and then it cleared up and was about 70 degrees. Beautiful fall weather. I think I can quit worrying about hitting snow, until we head home!!!

We got to the Gettysburg Military Park about noon. Timing was perfect. We were able to see the IMAX film about the battle. We also go to experience the Cyclorama. This is a 360 degree canvas painting of the battlefield. They have it all narrated and every time you look you see something different. The sights and sounds are all there. Then we got a two hour guided tour of the 24 mile area they have set aside for all the monuments and statues. The setting today has been preserved almost identical to the battle. This place so full of history, sad battle stories and tributes to those that fought. Sure changed the course in history with over 50,000 lives lost in 3 days. Our guide compared it to the 13 year war in Iraq with 7000 lost.

We drove about 240 today.
