Day 16 - Tuesday 26th September

The spell of lovely sunny weather continued today. We had a look round Haapsalu before heading South down the coast. Not much to see in Haapsalu but they do have a railway museum at the old station. The outdoor display of engines & trucks has some impressive old steam engines.

The drive down the coast was a bit disappointing as there weren't many places to actually se the sea. We did go off road & found a nice forest spot for lunch which had a track down to the beach.

We were going to stop the night at Parnu which is the summer capital of Estonia but after stopping to have a walk along the long sandy beach we decided to push on a bit further South. A good decision as we found a great stopover place at an impressive sports complex about fifteen miles away. A really lovely setting in the forest just inland from the coast. All sorts of sports & activities are catered for including Frisbee golf, curling, athletics, cross country skiing( on roller skis at this time of the year) sledging etc etc. Great accommodation facilities for up to 188 people as well as camping & caravan places.

They are open all year round & provide training facilities for top athletes as well as the general public & schools. Would be really great to see it in action in the winter when the snow is about. The Frisbee golf must be really fun then!
