We had another long driving day, today, turning a 5 hour drive from FJG to Queenstown, via the Haast Pass, into a 10 hour spectacular, despite the rain that persisted for much of the drive. For this update, I'll let the pictures tell the story (when I get around to posting them »śĆ); suffice to say that we stopped in several beautiful spots and went on a couple of short hikes. Perhaps the best of them was to Blue Pools.

We also had to make a decision on whether to take the scary Crown Range road, the highest public road in NZ, or the low road - we chose the latter! We may have missed out on the challenge and views of Crown Range, but we did get to drive along Kawasaki Gorge, a very scenic route and also one of the main centres of the Otago gold rush in the 1800s.

Our apartment in Queenstown is pretty good and having another ready made dinner was great! We made our final supermarket shop, to stock up for the rest of our trip, and settled in for a couple of days.

Happy Trails!
