2017 New Zealand travel blog

The rain is the talk of the town today. Visitor bureau is not recommending any hiking because of the rain soaked ground. Walked from camp into town which has a lovely oak tree lined main street. This is a definite outdoor sport town with skiing, hiking, backpacking, bungie jumping etc. with lots of little eateries. We opted to take a private thermal bath as no other options in the rain. Would have been fun to play in the various pools (many of which were closed though) but we weren’t that adventuresome!

Bob had a hamburger at the Log Cabin and then we walked home after a shop for dinner. I found some lovely king salmon filets. Will make Brazilian baked salmon that has grated orange peel, brown sugar, Sonoma Spice Shop smoked paprika blend on top and probably sautéed potatoes. 2015 Oyster Bay Merlot.

We will try to master the use of our DVD player this afternoon. We brought several fast action movies that Bob loves and we have seen many times! Rain means doing laundry!

Tomorrow we head to the Waipara wine country where we have an Okay 2 Stay arrangement at Torlesse Winery.
