Aslings Beach, Eden

Think we found a rock "groper" at Aslings Beach

Monday 18 September 2017

Not far to drive today, but we were on our way at 8.45am.

Had a break at Bega again, and got more good information from the lady at the Cheese Factory, a different volunteer to yesterday, who was also good.

Found a park for the vans in Pambula and had a good walk around the town. Found the good recommended bakery and bought some nice fresh rolls for lunch.

Back on the road and not far to Eden. Yes, we have arrived in "the Garden of Eden"! If only in name only! A nice little park and after setting up, enjoyed lunch together.

Set off about 3pm for a walk along the Allan Gibson Boardwalk behind the park and along the banks of Lake Curalo. Didn't dilly dally as it has a really bad smell at present from decaying vegetation. Headed down to walk along Aslings Beach and decided to head back via the town area. The walk was much longer than planned, but enjoyable just the same.

Passed the information centre, so popped in to check things out.

Spent an hour over nibbles and chatting on our return.

It was quite windy and cold when we set out, but the wind dropped and it was quite warm again. It cooled down quickly once the sun disappeared, but should be a comfortable night.

The park backs onto a high school, and we are right near the agriculture area, the sheep have been checking us out, and we have heard a rooster, so who knows what time we will be awake in the morning!
