The Americas travel blog

A nothing day today as there are no tours available. We get up late as it does not get light until about 8 am and that’s when the street lights go off along the esplanade. We do have to pay our bus fare out to the Torres del Paine National Park. The Maria Jose bus company’s office in town is not open so we have to catch a taxi back to the bus station to pay the fare. Once that is done we wander around the town and Phil gets a new pair of trekking trousers and myself a new beanie. A warm beanie may come in handy with the temperatures getting colder where we are heading. We stop for a coffee and a café not far from our Hotel and then head back to watch the amazing view from our room. We overlook the bay and we have big picture windows to watch the weather changing, which it does here throughout the day. Later when the weather clears we walk along the bay for as long as we can stand as it is very windy and then walk back into the town to find Kaiken restaurant recommended in Lonely Planet. We do find it but it turns out further away than we expected, so settle for a café closer to home. The day went fairly quickly but we would have preferred to have seen the glaciers. Not to be!
