2017 Trip East to see the Colors travel blog

Our spot in Vinita, OK - we got our money's worth

Woke up in Sayre and hit the road for somewhere close to the Missouri border. We blazed through Oklahoma City and Tulsa and I found a place in Vinita so I called and made a reservation – a 1st for us to call from the truck for a same night stay. More on Vinita...

First I want to say how pretty Oklahoma is. It is very green and once you are north of Oklahoma City there are fields of crops, lots of cattle and horses grazing and some very pastoral scenes. The trees are tall and dense and we did not see many oil wells/pumpers. There are also a lot of wind mills in Oklahoma and they are just so regal standing in their rows and churning away. That said there is the annoyance of toll roads and they are not cheap. We will try to avoid them on our next leg.

Vinita – we actually stayed a little outside at an RV park that honors one of the memberships we have – so for $ 10 we had full hookups but the photo should tell the rest of the story. For one night it was fine but we did not tarry the next morning. There was a serious thunderstorm nearby and we got rain and wind but none of the hail. Rio the cat does not like when it rains hard in the trailer.

Tom’s saying for the day – If it was anymore humid it would be raining. We are off to Lake of the Ozarks.
