We began our slow and steady drive to Mount Cook and we were blown away by the stunning scenary. We passed Lake Pukaki where we stopped to take in the view of glistening blue lake with the snow covered mountains behind. Once we passed the lake we winded in and out of the snow covered mountains, definitely the most beautiful drive we have ever done.
When we arrived at our Motel we were lucky to receive an upgrade to the room at the front. This meant our view was off the surrounding mountains, with our floor to ceiling windows we felt like we were the only ones there.
We decided to have a beer in a local bar and watch the sun set, with the dark clear sky we felt like we could see the whole galaxy.
The next day we decided to walk to Kea Point to see Muellar Lake and Muellar Glacier. Before heading off Katie blew her nose at which her new piercing came out, after trying for a long time to get it back in with no luck we had to put one of her earrings in. Once we finally began the walk took us under snow covered trees and around the snowy mountains, absolutely breathtaking. We were lucky enough to not see many people so within the quietness heard a few little avalanches in the distance. When we got to the lake we were rewarded with more breathtaking views, and were both in agreement this is the most beautiful place in New Zealand.
We continued our walk towards the Hooker Valley, this took us to a different point of Muellar Lake where we could see for miles. We finished our walk at down a suspension bridge over looking the river before we turned back.
We then continued our journey with Katie driving us to Wanaka where we will try our hand at skiing.
