Returning - Keuka Lake Wineries
Jun 26, 2017
I helped Joe feed the horses, packed up the car, and was ready to go to the Buffalo airport to pick up Ali. We had rancho hueves for breakfast – Alice cooked for my last morning. How nice. She invited me back as a work away or a guest. We said our farewells – Steve, Peggy, Pam, and Joe – and Marty and I headed out.
Ali’s plane was on time and we were heading to Keuka Lake a bit after 11. There were 5 wineries on the agenda to hit before 5:00 closings. I was hoping we’d make at least 3. We made 5!
1. Keuka Springs – Penn Yan
$3 for tasting. Good wine special, buy 2 seyval chardonnay, get one free.
2. McGregor – Dundee
$5 for tasting. Tasting included a wine glass. We had a nice cheese plate to go with our wine.
3. Ravines – Hammondsport
$3 for tasting. Lady looked like Carla in Cheers.
4. Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera – Hammondsport
Free tasting. Specialty wines not available for general tasting – only by request or members of club. I did end up tasting 2 specialty reds since the grapes were unique to me. I bought a bottle of Rkatsiteli.
5. Kueka Lake Vineyards
$3 tasting. Bully Hill was closed by the time we finished at Dr. Frank but on the way back to our b&b we found this little place still open.
Our b&b for the night was The Fine Thread in Hammonsport. It was walking distance to cute historic town and Keuka Lake. We checked in then walked to town for a bite to eat, then returned to our bed and that was all they wrote.
