Lake Summersville

Lake Summersville View 2

View from our camper door

I'm so sad .. I only have 15 pictures left that I can post on this blog for this trip so I'm only posting a few but what I really want to do is post pictures from every angle of the lake and campground ...it is beautiful as was the drive here from Washington PA.

We took our time stopping at rest areas and overlooks just to take in the scenery. Now we have checked into Battle Run Campground on Lake Summersville, the largest lake in West Virginia. It is absolutely gorgeous with crystal clear water. I wish I could post oodles of pictures.

Tomorrow we will explore. I've been told about a local winery, a lighthouse and as silly as it may sound to some .. an old-fashioned hardware store where you can buy most anything and everything .. even quilt supplies. There is also a museum nearby dedicated to the area's civil war history (Battle of Kessler's Cross Lanes, Battle of Carnifax Ferry and Nancy Hart's Capture .. a Confederate spy). Love all that kind of stuff .. Our next door neighbor here is a regular Chatty Cathy about everything Summersville. We appreciate the information and will check out as much as we can tomorrow. I kind of wish there was availability for a 3rd day as we'd love to just sit by the lake and chill but it's fully booked we don't want to miss out on seeing what we can and we are grateful for the time we do have here ...
