Race Boat

Mount St Helen3

Colombia River

Drove up to Mt Saint Helen. The devastation that the volcano caused when it erupted in 1980 was beyond anything one could imagine. Lives lost, a lake completely disappeared with all structures on it and people that remained with their property. The dust effected airplane travel around the world. It all started with a series of earthquakes. Not that we are worried now, but on the news this morning there were three earthquakes last night in the islands that we will be visiting in a few days. On our drive to Mt Saint Helen we came across a small lake that was having boat races. They were racing ten ft. small boats with outboards on them that would go 80 miles and hour. Unfortunately the wind came up and they stopped the racing after a couple of boats flipped just before we arrived there. It was still fun to look at the boats and talk the drivers.
