Our stop for the night, just off the interstate

We are basically in “Going Home” mode now, driving every day now.

Today we will stop in Alma, Arkansas. It was five hours on Interstate 40 with lots of trees along the highway, crossing many rivers.

We saw lots of agriculture, a very large Pentecostal Church and Academy, some beautiful, large rural homes; passed by Arkansas Nuclear One Plant, climbed along top of ridges viewing the lower areas in the distance.

We passed a sign for Petit Jean State Park and that roused my curiosity so I found this history of the area and the legend of Petit Jean. I think you’ll enjoy the story of the Legend of Petit Jean and French Exploration.

We arrived at our RV park about 1:30 and walked across the street to Cracker Barrel for lunch. Convenient and good food. Later I went to the Wal-Mart across the highway while Larry walked across the street to an RV store to buy a part.

I saw that nearby was Fort Smith Elks and called, but they weren’t open, oh darn. So, we relaxed, worked on the computer and watched TV.
