Tuesday 6th Myall Creek

We were late in last night at the show grounds Delungra which were nothing great but adequate and were keen to head off this morning for our next destination. On the way we stopped at the Myall Creek Reconciliation Monument. This commemorates the story of the infamous Myall Creek Massacre in 1838 when 28 Aboriginal people were massacred at this site. This was the first time that such an action resulted in the white perpetrators being brought to justice for such an action and they faced the death penalty. Both aboriginal and non-aboriginal people worked together to achieve this monument and thus it is seen as an action of reconciliation.
