Marc & Lisy's little adventure travel blog

The beautiful, clear water of Nusa Lembongan.

Mushroom Bay- from the water.

Who could resist having a drink at a beach-front bar like this?

The empty white-sand beaches- if you look closely you can see Bali...

Beaches just don't get any better!

The sunsets from Lembongan are rumored to be the best in all...

Enjoying the rocks and tide pools at low tide, this was all...

Lisy cart-wheeling out of control! This picture made us laugh so we...

The rock formation here were pretty interesting- volcanic rock shaped by ions...

The beautiful gardens surrounding our bungalow.

Marc taking a little surf-ski kayak out in the lagoon.

Another fantastic sunset- the end of a great day!

This was taken from the boat as we were leaving- nice place...

Our fun little thatched hut.

20 miles south-east of Bali lie a group of three beautiful tropical islands. We stayed at the smallest of the three, a little slice of paradise called Nusa Lembongan. The island is only about 1 mile wide and two miles long, and it is home to some of the nicest people we have ever met. We were lucky enough to stay in a little thatched hut, just steps away from the sand, in a little cove called mushroom bay.

The beaches here were covered in a beautiful white sand, the water was turquoise and filled with fish. We took a snorkeling trip to some of the offhsore coral reefs, and we were amazed by the colors and variety of fish. We brought bits of bread into the water with us, and the fish would literally eat right out of our hands. It is impossible to describe the color of some of the fish- every color of the rainbow and more! We also took boats out to some of the island's surf spots, where the waves broke on shallow coral reefs. We stayed away from the spot called lacerations!

Of course, we spent our days on the water, and when we weren't surfing, snorkelling or swimming then we would kayak, ride the banana (towed behind a speedboat)and enjoy beautiful sunsets. We are very happy that we took the trip to Nusa Lembongan, it was a great way to see unspoiled Indonesian beauty.
