We made a short drive south today to Houghton, NY to spend the Independence Day weekend at the Houghton/Letchworth KOA. When I made reservation for the State Park, the weekend wasn't open so we had to move on today. Before leaving, we made another trip to the Glen Iris Inn for dessert last night. When we ate dinner there on Tuesday we were too full to sample the dessert menu, but told the waitress we would be back before we left. It was also an excuse to get back to the Middle Falls for some pictures from Inspiration Point. It gives a view of the Middle Falls, some of the Upper Falls, and the high bridge. Pictures posted today are a mixed bag of evening shots of the Middle Falls, desserts, a hamburger, etc.
The route to the KOA was interesting. We had to turn into the Houghton College campus and drive through to get to the road to the campground. The road wound its way through a housing development, up and down a couple of holes and finally we arrived at the KOA. The directions on the KOA website said not to follow GPS instructions because many GPS systems lead you onto dirt roads to get to the campground. Luckily we didn't follow the GPS and looked for the KOA signs. We arrived safely to a nearly empty campground early in the afternoon, but by dinner time it had filled up quite a bit. I think we'll be relaxing most of weekend with just a little sightseeing. Stay tuned.
