Foggy start at Mt Hay

One of those coal trains

Bedford Weir

Sun setting at weir

Friday 1 July

A much warmer night, but we were greeted by a foggy start to the day.

Time to leave Mt Hay and continue further west. The coal trains are very frequent along this route, and we heard plenty during our stay. Today we saw them as we travelled, moving so much coal!

Neither of us have travelled this part of Queensland previously, and soon realized we were heading towards the outback once again.

We passed through many small townships as we headed towards Blackwater.

We stopped briefly at Dingo Roadhouse for a coffee and Don decided on some raisin toast. Pleased he only asked for one serve, as that included three thick slices, and about 12 or so sachets of three different sorts of jam, honey, peanut paste and vegemite!

Think it's a favorite place for the truckies to have breakfast, hence the big serve!

Next stop was Blackwater to refill the water tanks, and use the dump point.

Visited Woolworths for a few more supplies and we were on the way again. Not very far to Bedford Weir where we are setup for three nights. Lots of vans here, but plenty of room for everyone. Haven't seen the ranger yet, but we leave our donation for upkeep in a box.

Late lunch after setup and a few chats with neighbours. We have Des and Isabel near us, and she knows everything!!! Everyone is very friendly.

Relaxed with our books for a while and then had a walk down to the weir before dinner time.

It was a very warm afternoon, but soon cooled down when the sun set.
