Saying goodbye

Another beautiful drive from Edinburgh to Glasgow....Just a very short 45 min. drive and our first visual thought was Glasgow being a more up to date modern city. Extremely busy and fast paced, so chose to continue down the west coast to South of Ayr in a little community called Maybole.

We spent 2-3 hrs touring the Culzean Castle "as most of you know my Joanne is/was a Kennedy" and this area of Scotland is the ancestral home of her family clan. Without a doubt this has been another highlight of our trip. The castle itself is outstanding and built on the cliffs of The Firth of Clyde (Atlantic Ocean).

We had a great conversation with one of the tour historians who was thrilled to hear that Joanne was a Kennedy. The previous owners of the Estate are also Kennedy's and live a few miles down from the Castle site. (Culzean is now operated by the Scottish National Trust). Dating back to Sir Archibald Kennedy (Marquess of Ailsa) along with his wife Queen Charlotte was interesting to find her name as Joanne's father was John Ramsay Kennedy. The historian archiving and photo collection was Allison Kinnaird and Joanne grew up in S Castlegar BC which was known as Kinnaird while she was growing up.

Please enjoy these photos and another update later today.
