Overview

We set off earlier than usual to try and beat some of the rain which was due to start at 11:00. Passed nuclear power station and the intact and outlet into the Moselle.

Our weather strategy worked well and we got quite a long way along our river route before 11 when it started raining as forecast. Again we sheltered during heavy rain. Crossed from France into Germany and then took a route into Luxembourg to see Schengen. Rain became heavy and we were unable to find proper shelter so stopped under a burnt out boat on a trailer! Not long later heavy rain stopped us again so we found a dry lunch spot under the walkway outside a public swimming pool. Stopped a little later for a hot chocolate in Luxembourg before crossing back into Germany to follow the right bank of the Moselle. A quieter and more pretty side away from roads. A huge thunder and lightening rainstorm again sent us heading for cover. This time under a permanent tent awning in a caravan park.... Residents weren't there!!!

Although the weather wasn't bad after that we did find some of the bike path under water where the Moselle had flooded. Finally got to Nittel in lovely sunshine and stopped for tea and cake (well not for me ) before going to our hotel at 5pm. Another long day for only 58km. Had a small walk around the pretty village and a nice dinner at the hotel.
