An early early start for our day trip to Paris. Caught the first train out at 5:40 a.m. Arriving at Gare du Nord approx. 9:30 Paris time. Had a great breakfast at a roadside cafe and spent about an hour "people watching". All shapes and sizes....a real eclectic mix....
Then we hopped on the Big Bus-Paris for a tour thru most all of Paris....Champs Élysées, Arc de Triumph, Eiffel Tower....we wandered around the Eiffel Tower grounds !!! Unfortunately the Tower itself was closed do to a National Strike from there we walked along the Seine River walkway before taking the next Big Bus tour, this time thru the City downtown area. Many great looking sights there as well, walking for another couple hours before stopping for a late lunch/early dinner ... Joanne chose Lemon flavoured linguini w/ Chablis while I went with steak n eggs with a rich French Merlot mmmmm deelish.
From there we hopped on our 3rd and final tour bus heading back to Gare du Nord for our train home. Not only was the Eiffel Tower closed but so was the Louvre and the Police/Security was so visual due to the Euro/Paris football match in downtown Paris. The tourist population was apparently doubled because of the games. Not many sober football fans parading around town
A boisterous trip home with many football fans also making their way back to London.
We start our road trip tomorrow morning and will pick up our stories then. Enjoy the photos and more tomorrow.
