|We left Winnemucca this morning and headed to Wells, Nevada. It was a short drive as we want to be in Salt Lake City tomorrow so that we can hear the choir practice on Thursday. It’s nice to have short travel days once in a while. The first ½ or so of the trip was very boring, with straight roads and not much scenery. It was pretty desolate, mostly desert with shrubs. After a while, we started seeing some flowers along the roadside and the scenery was greener than before. There were large snow capped mountains in the distance. In one spot, I noticed 2 train tunnels to our right. Then Jim pointed out our road was going through a tunnel as well. We stopped at Walmart, once again, to pick up some supplies. We planned on staying at a Passport America campground for $15, but it was full. We had no cell service yesterday or would have called to reserve. A couple of exits up, we stopped at Mountain Shadows RV Park. It is a Good Sam Park, and is very nice. The owner was very friendly and put us in a partially shaded site with a grass lawn. Anyone who knows me, knows I like a bargain, especially free stuff. I had a phone code for a free Dunkin Donuts coffee or Coolata that was expiring today. We have not seen any Dunkin Donuts since we were in the east. Luckily there was one, about 1.7 miles away. It was a gorgeous day, not too hot and yet warm. So we walked there and I got my free Coffee Coolata. It was a great walk. There was a grocery store and a Family Dollar near the campground so we went there as well. The rest of the day, we mostly relaxed. I did make a macaroni salad for dinner, and we also had fresh corn on the cob with our burgers. Several days ago, I mentioned that the campground where we were, had the nicest showers. Well this one has even got that one beat. They were clean and modern, with bath mats for when you got out. I definitely would stay here again in a heartbeat.
