Sharon and Carola on the narrow streets of Amsterdam

Sharon had booked her flights to Abu Dhabi and I decided to join her in the return flight to Amsterdam so I could show her around Holland for a few days and then stay longer to visit with my cousins. The only negative about this plan was that Sharon's return flight left Abu Dhabi at 2am! OK I sucked it up for a friend.

The flight with KLM was good and we arrived in Amsterdam early in the am about 7. Carolien picked us up at about 8am. Once back to her place, we lugged Sharon's huge suitcase up the narrow winding staircase that most homes in Holland have and made it to the top floor where we each had our own loft bedrooms. Even though we had little to no sleep on the flight we stayed up to visit.

Once Carola came home from teaching fitness classes we visited some more. Mentioning that Sharon wanted to see Anne Frank Museum, ride the canals and see the tulips a plan developed almost instantly. Carola found out on line that we could get tickets for Anne Frank today! Meanwhile I had gone with Carolien to do a few groceries when Carola came in the store in a rush to get me back to the house in preparation to leave for Amsterdam in less than 5 minutes. Yikes!

She is such a trooper driving us to Amsterdam, waiting for us to complete the museum visit, and then walking us around a bit of Amsterdam before returning us home for dinner. What a first day! Now I'm definitely in need of sleep but I manage to wait until about 8pm before hitting my bed.
