Bob and Rita Washington Trip 2016 travel blog

World War II Memorial

Lincoln Memorial

Representative Babin's Office

Washington DC, day 2. I am telling you this is one beautiful city and one of the greatest highlights of this trip, which I am thinking of renaming. Thinking of renaming to Bob and Rita's Trip through History!! There was lots of great history going through Savannah and Charleston and now Washington!! Today we had an appointment to tour the Capitol through Representative Babin's office, arranged by Anne. And it was a good thing Anne scheduled this for us because the wait was long for those without appointments. What a tour it was!! It was beautiful and impressive! The tour was over an hour but oh so worth it!! We had lunch in the Capitol cafeteria to re-energize, then got on the Circulator, a local bus that we could ride for 50 cents and get off when needed and then back on. We stopped by the Jefferson, Lincoln and World War II monuments and I was just amazed at the size of the monuments and how inspiring they were. Earlier we went inside the Library of Congress and saw Thomas Jefferson's library of over 6000 books. No wonder there is a monument in his honor. A very remarkable man!!

Inspired, amazed and exhausted, we headed back to our RVs, almost too tired to eat!! It was after 8:00pm, so we threw something in the microwave and called it a day!!!
