A reconstruction of a “hermit’s” house in the woods near Timmele.

Lars’ house on a farm outside of Timmele.

Thursday May 19

Another Swedish breakfast with Lars before he left to perform his volunteer duty of mowing the lawn around the historic inn, one of the several properties managed by the local historic and cultural sites committee. While Lars was away, we tackled the dishes from last evening’s get together. Many dishes later, everything was back in order, and we spent a leisurely few hours around Lars’ house.

Shortly after Lars returned from his work, we left the farm for a drive to the sports centre where we had a light lunch at the golf club and then took a hike along the trails that are used for cross-country skiing in the winter, and will be the venue the World Cross-Country Ski Championships in January of 2017. Part of the course has snow making cannons ready for making artificial snow if needed in January.

The sun came out in the late afternoon as we returned home for some rest and a cup of coffee or tea. Following a short drive into the nearby woods to try to spot wildlife (moose) we examined a reconstruction of a “hermit’s” house. Later in the evening we enjoyed a lovely meal with Lars’ brother, Anders, and his wife, Kerstin, at their home.
