Carving in Foscue Park

The Mighty Tennessee-Tombigbee runs alongside the rv park

The grand dining room at Gaineswood

This morning after enjoying our coffee among the trees, birds chirping, nice breeze, we made a plan to visit the plantation home Gaineswood not far from our campsite and in the middle of Demopolis. The house was completed on the eve of the American Civil War after a construction period of 20 years. It was fascinating to tour.

Headed back to campsite for lunch, a quick rest and back out again to play 9 holes of golf at Ravine Golf Course in Demopolis. Pretty scenary, golf was not too bad either, except for a few "oops" by me.

Back to campsite and a crockpot meal prepared by Anne. You don't generally think of having chicken marsala with sauteed green beans on a camping trip but Anne used a crockpot to work her magic and it was delicious. Blackberry cheesecake for dessert compliments of Mike and we were set for the evening.

Tomorrow morning we will set off to West Point, Georgia where we hope to play more golf at one of the Robert Trent Jones courses. Should be a lot of fun regardless of how well everyone plays, though any golfer knows it's more fun when hitting the ball well, right golfers???
