The Olson's Retirement RV Adventures travel blog

Marina on the coast So. of Tallehassee.

The marina.

The restaurant at the marina. Highly recomended by our friends.

Interesting line of old trucks, just rusting away along the road.

Next stop was St. Marks lighthouse.

Our friends with the lighthouse in the background.

View of the gulf in front of the lighthouse.

A gator sunning himself.

Closer view.

Yet another one.

Next stop Wakulla Springs.

Entrance to the lodge.

The back yard toward the springs.

This is the beginning of the springs. Pumps out up to14,000 gals....

Old Joe was a resident here until someone killed him. Big reward.

Here's Joe.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon and original Tarzan were filmed here.

We had dinner with our friends last night and made plans to spend the day together exploring what they call 'old Florida'. We drove out to Panacea and had lunch at a Marina that has been around for a long time. Great Seafood!

From there we went to St. Marks Lighthouse and walked around the cove. We spotted an alligator sunning himself. There were lots of bird watchers out checking the migratory birds in the area. You can see in the pictures how bundled up we were. It was cold and windy.

Next stop was at the lodge at Wakulla Springs. The lodge was built in 1931. It was built in a Spanish style with a grand lobby with a fireplace as the focal point. The grounds were grand and is a popular spot for picnics and swimming in the summer.
