After we left Palermo through the city centre, which is a challenge, we joined the autostrada bound for Messina. It started to rain, later pouring rain and shortly after a deluge. We could only drive with 50kms/h, so another day in paradise.
The B&B we booked was somewhere in the suburb of cefalú on a hill where even a fiat 500 would have trouble to turn, wise decision to book there. The B&B was on the 4th floor in a social housing building. A very clean and comfortable place with a very friendly owner(Mauro). Didn't understood English nor French, but did everything to make the stay as comfortable as possible.
Downtown Cefalú we had a bit to bite at the sea and strolled through the old city center. The raining stopped, for now!!
Next morning, the rain was back, but in a pocket version from the downpour yesterday. We noticed that all over the north of Sicily, the rain had caused havoc, streets in Catania were flooded, cars floating around and houses damaged....
Good idea to stay in Cefalú!!!!
After leaving Mauro with love and kisses the Italian way, we decided to go south through the mountains to Agrigento, an ancient town and UNESCO World Heritage to remind of the Roman, Greek and Arabian past of the Island.
The highway, which is bridged almost entirely through the highlands (why, I don't know) finally brought us, via a detour over a small mountain road passing Polizzi, to our destination.
A small Hotel in a narrow street (what else!!!). A good hotel by the way, and cheap!!!
A good night rest and come what may.
