We moved just a short distance from Chowchilla to a few miles east of Madera at Hidden View CG at Hensley Lake. While we were in Montana and Wyoming we enjoyed the cool weather while our friends and family in Houston were suffering with the heat. We have now found the heat - the temperatures have been around 105 deg every afternoon and on our last day, while we were shopping in Fresno, the temperature hit 109. Our campground is another COE campground and is really nice. The lake is extremely low - now at 5000 acre feet vs a full pool of 90000 acre feet. At the campground, we had no trouble finding a site for the RV; the campground is empty except for the resident volunteers.

We had a late afternoon visit with Sonya’s parents planned. We arrived at Jim and Vickies home, just outside Coarsegold and had a wonderful afternoon visiting, seeing their new home, and had a great dinner. We were still having a good visit when it was time for us to leave to get back to the campground before the gates closed. We had a great time and really enjoyed our visit with Jim and Vickie.

We made a two trip into Yosemite and a long day trip into Kings Canyon and Sequoia. The afternoon views of Half Dome, on our first drive into Yosemite, was spectacular. Our next visit was into Yosemite valley with a couple of hikes planned. After walking the "easy" trail up to the foot bridge at Vernal falls, we were done. The hike averaged over 10% grade but was less than one mile. We explored the valley, stopped for lunch, and had a great view of climbers on El Capitan.

Our visit into Kings Canyon was limited due to most of the park being closed as a result of a 60,000 acre fire. We visitied the Grant's Grove area, got our first view of the huge trees. With our camera it is just not possible to capture the huge size of the big trees.

On down the road, we enjoyed our visit to Sequioa and enjoyed a short hike through a grove of the big trees.

We wrapped up our visit and prepared the RV for the road and headed to Tehachapi, CA for 2 days.
