Saturday August 1
We stayed in the hotel until mid-morning, then set out for the day, arranging to meet Towyn and Faith later in the day for coffee, and Mavis tomorrow.
Once again, we went in search of a laundrette to do another small wash. Following directions from the desk clerk at the hotel, we found the laundrette on Rhosddu Road. After loading the wash, we crossed the road to The Lemon Tree Hotel where we had a cup of coffee and a nice chat with the new owner. The hotel had only just been renovated and it looked really good. The rooms are being done this winter, so it might be a good place to stay in the next couple of years as an alternative to the Premier Inn. We return to the laundrette, finished our laundry and went to the centre of town in search of lunch.
We parked near Eagles Meadow shopping centre and walked to the "Horse and Jockey" for a pub lunch. Heather had a bowl of mushroom soup and Gary had soup and a jacket potato with chicken in leek and Stilton cheese sauce. He really enjoyed it!
After a short walk around Wrexham and a brief stop at Tesco to buy flowers for our visits, we returned to the hotel, then on to Faith and Towyn's house. Heather's Aunt Faith and Uncle Towyn seemed to be in relatively good health, although they now have a carer come in twice a day for Towyn. We chatted for almost two hours, then took our leave so we would not tire them out.
Back at the hotel we watched some of a women's soccer game (Chelsea versus Nottingham) and then some of the Women's Open from Turnberry. Later in the evening we headed to the "Bridge Inn" at Caergwrle (yes, that is spelled correctly!), where we met Heather's cousin Glyn, Dianne, their son Michael and her other cousin Steve and Linda for an Asian dinner. It was a very nice meal. We had a good chat about everything and caught up on all of the news. We did not return to the hotel until after 11:00 p.m.
