Londonderry is the second largest city in Northern Ireland made famous for the part it played during the “Troubles” and the peace process. President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary, visited this city several times during those years to assist with the peace process.
BEECH HILL COUNTRY HOUSE
Beech Hill Country House, located about 3 miles east of Londonderry, belongs to the Manor House Hotels of Ireland group. We stayed in many of these fine, family owned hotels during our one month trip. This hotel belongs to the Donnelly family whose several members work here on a daily basis and were most anxious to make our stay and pleasant and memorable one. Without a doubt, they accomplished their goal!

The hotel has extensive grounds that make for a lovely walk
During World War II the United States Marines had bases in Northern Ireland. One of the bases was at Beech Hill. Over 400 Quonset huts were constructed on this site.

We took a taxi into Londonderry and spent a delightful day walking around the city center and seeing all the sites.
A unique pre-marital tradition
Right in the city center is a perfectly preserved and fully functioning walled city.
