Where Ever The Road May Go USA 2014 travel blog

Hi ya'll

Yes, this is it, our last blog from our big adventure.

Tonight is the last night in USA and we are at the Marriott hotel LAX. We depart around 11pm tomorrow (Monday) night and with an overnight stay in Sydney we will be back in Perth on Thursday.

It has been the most incredible 6 months we have had. We have managed to be together 24 hours per day, 7 days a week for 26 weeks, amazing…

Since our last update we spent 11 days in Provo Utah, which is one of our favourite places in the USA so relaxing and super friendly.

We managed to get to the factory outlets one last time and also to Cabalas which is a huge outdoor shop, so we were both very happy.

We also did the drive from Provo to Wendova, where the Bonneville salt flats are, its a 300 mile round trip but well worth it, even if the lake had already began to fill with water and we couldn't take our rental out onto the flats.

The weather for our 6 months had been amazing with a total overall of 9 wet days, we were so lucky. Then our last 4 days in Pro o changed and the winter set in. This year is supposed to be the coldest on record for the USA and had already seen 3/4 of the country have severe weather. We were lucky that we only had light snow, but it was cold with daytime temps around 32-40 degree fh, and night time around the -5 to -8 fh. But it was great to see the snow .

It was sad to leave Provo as we had made friends with a few people and in particular Dianne who works for Marriott, she has been a huge help in many ways to Max and I and we cannot thank her enough, she has the most amazing personality and we felt like she was our USA daughter, so sad to say goodbye to her, but hope she will visit us.

Spent yesterday doing the sights and shopping in Santa Monica California after our flight from Salt Lake City. Great shopping here, but a little expensive so not a lot was added to our 3 suitcases.

Today we caught 2 buses and ended up at Venice Beach which is “interesting” to say the least. We did the 3 mile walk back to Santa Monica so we would only have to catch one bus back to our hotel. The walk was fun as there are some many interesting things happening along the beach walk, from buskers, acrobats, 6 pack guys, and nice scenery.

Tomorrow we will have an easy day and had tickets to go to Manhattan Beach for the day then back to the hotel to finish packing and begin our journey home.

This has been the best holiday and we would encourage anyone to take the opportunity to do this. We look forward to catching up with everyone at home and wish all our family and friends in the USA the very best and thanks to all for helping to make our holiday the great time we had.
