Charlie's FENCE OF FAME

August 29, 2014 We had a good drive to Dar and Charlie’s (more buds from the hood in Texas), in Union Grove, Wisconsin. We got there about 1:30 pm and Charlie and Craig, one of their sons, helped us get parked in their back yard. Man, what a spot, concrete slip, 30 amp electric, great water pressure and a beautiful lawn to enjoy while we are here. (FREE TOO) You will notice my Scottish heritage showing through. After getting set up we were treated to Dar’s feast, roast beef, with potatoes, carrots, peppers and au juice. What a meal. We met their other son , Chuck and their grandson, Charlie. (Think it might be confusing who we are talking about.) We visited and got cleaned up and headed for Potawatomie Casino in Milwaukee. Charlie, Craig and I played Texas Holdem and the girls played the slots. A good time was had by all. We then went to Racine Wi. To eat pizza. It was great and what we didn’t eat Little Charlie devoured after we got home.

August 30, 2014, After our walks we all went next door to the Old Settlers Bowling Alley and Restaurant for breakfast-it was great. After breakfast we drove by the Veterans Home and Cemetery in Union Grave, where Dar had worked for over 40 years. They have done a great job maintaining the buildings and grounds. We then returned to Milwaukee. We dropped Charlie and Craig off at the casino and Dar took Judy and I out to see Miller Park, Home of the Brewers. The stadium is very impressive as this is the one with the retractable dome roof. It was closed but I walked all the way around and got lots of pictures. We then went back to the casino for some more slots and poker. We then went to the buffet in the casino. I have never seen any better selection or better tasting food at any casino.

August 31, 2014, After our walks we went to Wilmont Flea Market. After finding some treasures we headed home. Craig cooked hamburgers on the grill and did a super job. After we ate, here we go again, back to the casino. Fun was had by all. After we got home the four of us played Pegs and Jokers. The girls did not do so well.

September 1, 2014, Today was laundry for Judy. After Judy got the laundry done we just sat around and visited. Very Relaxing. Chuck then cooked us some brats, hot dogs and chicken on the grill and Dar made all the side dishes. What a feast and everything was delicious. Great Job Chuck and Dar. While the rest of the family (Dar, Chuck, Craig, Little Charlie, his friend Tom, Dee Dee, her daughter Jessica and son Cody and Judy played corn hole toss, Charlie and I got our naps in. We then had a poker tournament and Chuck and his girlfriend Dee Dee (Denise) ended up splitting the pot. We sat around a fire and visited until time for bed. Another fantastic visit with fantastic friends.

September 2, 2014 We got out early, 8:00 am and went to Freedom RV to dump so we could make it to Iowa City. A real tight spot to get the truck and camper in because they had parked campers real close to the dump station. Will not bore you with the details but when you turn the RV real sharp the rear window of the truck contacts the RV and it makes a terrible sound, when it shatters into little pieces. What a sinking feeling when you hear that sound. This is the second time I have done this. You would think I would learn, but nooooooooooooooooo. After several calls with GEICO and Safelite, we had an appointment between 12:00 and 5:00 pm. So we just went the 5 miles back to Dar and Charlie’s. Charlie got us great fish sandwiches for lunch and we just sat around and visited and waited and waited and waited. The tech showed up about 4:30 and was finished in about an hour. We went back over to Old Settlers, next door, and had some sandwiches for dinner. We then came back and sat by the fire and roasted marshmallows. This wasn't what we had planned for the day but it turned out to be another great day with friends.
