South Africa travel blog

This morning we were picked up by our guide Shef for a tour of the Winelands. This area of South Africa is perfect for grape growing. The only truly SA grape is Pinotage, which is a blend of Pinot Noir and Cinsaut. We started at Anura this morning (pick up was 9am !!) - there we tasted 5 wines including our favorite Pinotage so far. From there we continued on to a champagne (even though they can't call it champagne) tasting at JC LaRoux. That was really cool - we had 5 different kinds - 3 made in the Method Cap Classic and 2 Sparkling. Our guide knew we loved golf so he took us to Ernie Els winery - wow that was beautiful! But today was very rainy and cold so we didn't have much of a view. But it was nice and cozy with couches and a fireplace. It would be beautiful on a nice summer day!

Lunch was at La Petite Ferme which was delicious. Again a beautiful view (would've been better if it was clear!)

Tonight we are staying in and enjoying the amazing hotel - we have a fire in the fire place, wine that we bought today, and will probably just order in pizza! We have been running like crazy and it's nice to just have some chill time.
