Pearl Valley Golf Club

Not a bad place to play

Beautful day

The baboons butt

Leopards Leap vineyard

Transition day today! We left Cape Town this morning for our 10:10 tee time at Pearl Valley Golf Club. Pete's doing a great job driving on the other side of the road, as usual. It was about a 45 minute drive from Cape Town Waterfront to the golf course. It was a Jack Nicklaus course - which means bunkers everywhere you would think about landing your ball. I couldn't play too much because of my wrist - I took about half the holes off. The course was beautiful and we had a great time playing. And we were so excited on the way out we saw baboons!! We've been seeing signs about wild baboons everywhere (they will open your bags and steal stuff right from you apparently!) so we were happy to be in the car when we ran into them.

On the way to the hotel we stopped at Leopard's Leap winery - only because Sufia saw a wine box at Pearl Valley that showed the logo and she said that we should try and find it and lo and behold it was on our way to the hotel! We are amazed at how inexpensive the food and drinks are here - our tasting was 25 rand (which is about $2.50) and the bottles of wine were $40 rand (so 4 bucks!!!)

Our hotel is the Franschhoek Country Estates which is AMAZING!!! There are a bunch of little buildings around the grounds that have rooms - only 26 rooms in all. We have to leave in 5 minutes for our South African Surprise 8 course dinner....so I will update and post photos when we return!!!
